LONG POST ALERT! But great information:
Crisp County Elementary School is excited to be rigorously utilizing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) strategies in our after-school program. We have created standards-based enrichment activities to supplement everyday classroom instruction. Enrichment classes expose students to different methods of learning, help them identify new subjects and skills they might be interested in, and enhance their confidence and personal abilities. Examples of classes we offer after school include:
Strategy Games: These games enhance brain activity and development and help students with skills necessary in math, science in social studies. They emphasize cause and effect, spatial awareness, and basic mathematical concepts.
Music and Dance through the Years: Students gain reading skills by looking at music as poetry and enhance their historical awareness by discussing how music played an impact during key eras.
Elementary Spanish: Learning new languages enhances both short and long-term memory and enhances the acquisition of vocabulary. Correct standards-based grammar skills in English are crucial to learning grammar in Spanish.
Virtual Field Trips: Social Studies standards are taught through technology-based field trips.
Word Games: Students learn new vocabulary and enhance their memories through fun and interactive challenges.
Hands-On Math Activities: Inquiry-based tasks strengthen students’ understanding of the “why” in math. Students are learning to solve real-world problems instead of simply memorizing formulas and algorithms.
Financial Literacy: The 4th and 5th grades Social Studies economics standards are enhanced by creating budgets and spending classroom dollars.

We are continuing to monitor the weather and in constant communication with our local EMA Director. We have participated in both the Tallahassee And Peachtree City weather Service webinars. We are not in the Tropical Storm Warning area, only the Wind Advisory area. We will continue to keep safety as our priority. As of now, our buses will run their normal times, and for the safety of our younger students, PreK -5, please help encourage them to stay safe and indoors after getting off their bus during this inclement weather. Thank you for your support.
